Ronald Charles Wilson, Jr., 76, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2020 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at First Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines with a family burial at Resthaven Cemetery at a later date.
Ron worked at Preferred Risk/Guide One Insurance in West Des Moines, retiring as the Sr. Vice President of Sales after 25 years. During his time at Preferred Risk he worked with multiple non-profit organization on behalf of the company and was the co-founder and President of American Church Insurance.
Ron and his wife of 54 years, Linda, founded Volunteer Outreach in Community Enrichment Services (VOICES) and sponsored more than 300 refugees from Laos and Bosnia. They worked with the Open Bible Dream Center, and for the past 23 years they have served as Harvest Time Missionaries for India, Africa and Cuba.
Ron will be missed by his wife Linda, children Chip (Beth) Wilson, Rob Wilson, Kimber (Deron) Davis, and Matt Wilson, nine grandchildren, and special daughters Wendi and Karmin.
