Phyllis Borlin, 74, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Des Moines. A Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines with burial at South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart, Iowa.
Phyllis was born December 22, 1936 in Stuart, Iowa to Gerald and Thelma (Odem) Maline. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Phyllis enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, canning, singing, and volunteering at the voting polls. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her eight children, Maureen McKissick, Susan (Milton) Novak, Cindy (Gary) Ilse, Sally (Jim) Corrigan, Susan Buell, Steve Doud, Ann (Ron) McKenzie and Marilee (Mike) Morrow; 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her five sisters, Barbara Buttler, Kathryn Wolfe, Mary Ludwig, Geraldine Kading and Patricia Saxton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Borlin and brother, Bud Maline.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with a Vigil Service at 8 p.m.
