Paul O. Johnson, 65, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s Chapel with a brief remembrance service at 6 p.m.
Paul was born in Vancouver, Washington, the son of Ivadel and Ken Johnson. He grew up in Portland, Oregon and served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966. Paul was a longtime government service employee completing his career as director of the Multi-Family Housing Division for the state of Alaska. He retired in 2004 and moved to West Des Moines, Iowa.
Paul was a true family man, loved by all who knew him. He was a great storyteller and loved to hunt and fish in Alaska.
Paul is survived by his wife, Cecilia Diaz-Johnson; 10 children, Michelle (Christy), Ty (Shona), Guy, John, Misha (Michele), Aron, Lillian, Joel (Krissy), Paul and Adam; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, Don (Linda) and Ken (Janeen). He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be given to Kavanagh House on 56th Street.
