Norma (Donald) McWilliams, 97, passed peacefully on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at ManorCare in West Des Moines. A celebration of life will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Norma will be interred with her son, Donald, in Dallas, TX at a later date.
Norma was born July 2, 1921 in Corydon, IA to Burl and Ermal Donald. She graduated from Parson College where she earned her B.A. degree in education. Norma was married to Keith McWilliams for 28 years and they had four sons, Donald, Thomas, Ted and Ronald. In 1973, she met her loving companion, Mr. Alvin W. Jordan. Norma was active in many community associations including Polk County Attorney’s Wives, Easter Seals Auxiliary, Merrill Middle School PTA in Des Moines, National Guard Officer’s Wives of Polk County, University of Iowa Parents Association, and was an over 50 year member to PEO International and Windsor Presbyterian Church in Windsor Heights.
Norma is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Ted (Maureen) of West Des Moines and Ronald (Denise) of Parrish, FL; daughter-in-law, Penny McWilliams of Colleyville, TX; five grandchildren, Robb, Kelly, Meghan, Kristin, and Sean; and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mead Donald; sons, Thomas in 1986 and Don in 2015; grandson, Jon McWilliams in 2006; and companion, Mr. Al Jordan in 2009.
