Kimberly Ranae Rhiner (58) passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023. A visitation will be held from 4:30 - 6:30 pm Thursday, May 18, 2023, at McLarens Chapel in West Des Moines with a memorial service at 1:30 pm the next day, at McLaren's. Burial of her ashes will take place at Avon Cemetery, and she will be placed next to her son, Taylor.
Kim was born January 7, 1965, to Harold and Mary Anne Robertson (Overton) in Des Moines, IA. She began to have a family early on and made it her life's work to raise and love her five children. As a mother does, Kim never stopped looking after her kids and made sure they were prepared for whatever life may throw at them. She would teach her kids to look back and gain perspective from all of life's moments. She would inspire them to let their intuition guide them through questionable encounters. She was always reliable when you needed a good listener and knew the difference between needing advice and just needing to talk.
Kim's favorite things were crafts and family; if you could combine the two of them you would have her full attention! Whenever the latest craft was completed we would sit back and admire it while she would only point out the imperfections and repurpose it into something else. She was her own toughest critic. Kim always enjoyed the Arts but nothing complicated, the finer things in life were better left as simple. She probably preferred the cover of a song over the original that you enjoy. TV shows were better 20+ years ago and aired late at night on the TV Land channel; unless you were watching trashy reality shows because hot gossip and drama will always get her attention!
Kim was an animal lover and sadly leaves behind her fat cat named Finn. She was also a great cook and takes with her the best potato salad you'd ever have. Her laughter had no boundaries, she remembered everything and always had room in her heart for everyone.
Kim is Survived by her sister, Tammy "Sue" Russo (Wendell); brother, Ron Robertson (Jennifer); children Travis Rhiner (Brittani Joyner), Troy Rhiner (Kelly Boettcher), Tara Alexander (Aaron); Tanner Rhiner; 10 Grandchildren; and Randy Rhiner.
Kim was preceded in death by her son, Taylor Rhiner; and her parents, Harold and Mary Anne.
The family would like to reiterate their gratitude for all of the messages received each one expressing Love, Support, and Encouragement. As well as convey their humble appreciation for all of the contributions made to the services
