Joyce McClintock Elder

Joyce was born on December 12, 1925 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Irish and Helen (Anderson) O'Ryan. She graduated from Wilson High School and married Lyle McClintock with whom she had four children. They operated an income tax service out of their home and Joyce held secretarial and bookkeeping positions in the Des Moines area. After the death of Lyle, she married Walter Elder, Jr. on August 27, 1976.

Joyce was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Clive and enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends from her church circle group.

She is survived by her son, Allen (Connie) McClintock of Altoona, Iowa; daughters, Donna (Alan) Lander of Altoona, Iowa, Nancy (Charlie) Cramer of Murray, Kentucky, and Carol (Pete) Llamas of Waukegan, Illinois; brothers, Thomas (Irene) O'Ryan of St. Paul, Minnesota and Richard (Barb) O'Ryan of Hugo, Minnesota; sister, Pam O'Ryan of Phoenix, Arizona; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and a brother, Donald O'Ryan.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines followed by a luncheon at Faith Lutheran Church in Clive. Memorial contributions may be directed to Joyce's church.
