Jon M Miller

Jonathan "Jon" Michael Miller life’s journey ended on October 22, 2023, at the Taylor House surrounded by his family. He fought the ravages of cancer in the devastation from his treatment, without ever giving up or airing a single complaint. A visitation for Jon will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m.

Jon was born on June 26, 1985, and he completed the Miller family, with his dad, mom, and brother. He graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines, attended Iowa State (even though he was a Hawkeye at heart), and attended DMACC; he was proud of pledging the Phi Delta Theta.

Growing up, he enjoyed music, art, and playing soccer. However, during his final year in high school, he started playing rugby, which quickly became his favorite sport. He also loved downhill skiing on his trick skis passing dad backwards on the slopes was the time that was remembered by all. He also rode Ragbrai with friends and family.

Jon had a very caring personality, and always thinking of others first. His dry sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew him. After cancer, Jon had a bucket list of things to accomplish; get a tattoo, go skydiving, and a trip to Las Vegas. Fortunately, he was able to accomplish each of them.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Donald and Laurita; brother, Eric (Stacey); nephews Grant and Chase; niece, Cate; and aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. Jon was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Anna Miller, and Milton Bruder and Lois Folkers; and uncles, Roger Miller and Bob Bruder.

Over the years has medical team and support. Staff are composed of the most compassionate and solicitous individuals. His family will always hold a special place in their hearts for them.
