Waukee
John (Jack) Hosier, 62, left this life peacefully with his family at his side after a brief battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
Jack was born on April 3, 1949 in Des Moines to Charles W. (Bert) and Mildred Hosier. He was a graduate of Waukee High School where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Rita (Schmidt) Hosier, in 1969. Together they had two beautiful children, Michelle (Hosier) Lettington (Greg) of West Des Moines and Christopher Hosier (Sarah) of Omaha. He has six grand-children, Chris Lettington, Joseph Lettington, Macy Lettington, Haleigh Lettington, Jordan Hosier and Madison Hosier.
Jack spent his entire career of 45 years in the wholesale refrigeration business with stores in Des Moines, Omaha and Cedar Rapids, where he loved spending time with his customers and developing many lifelong friends. Retiring 1-1/2 years ago, he spent time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than grilling, sharing stories and relaxing by the pool with family and friends.
Jack’s family will celebrate Jack’s life with family and friends from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 10th at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7:15 p.m. An extended family private burial service will be held at Resthaven Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mayo Clinic Research and Development Department, 200 1st Street SW, Rochester, MN. 55905-9817
