Jeane Kane, 92, passed away October 11, 2024. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Jeane was born April 8, 1932 to Lowell and Leona (Mendenhall) Harger in Iowa City, IA. She graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1951 and grew up on many different farms in south central Iowa. Jeane married Stanley Edward Kane June 7, 1953 in West Des Moines. She went on to work for Bankers Life, Multiplex Business Forms, and most recently JC Penny’s catalog department in customer service. Jeane was a member of West Des Moines United Methodist Church, Heartland Chapter 305 Eastern Star and Friendships Court #6 Order of Amaranth. She loved square and polka dancing, painting ceramics, playing softball, roller-skating, baking, playing electronic solitaire and card games, and was an excellent cook. Jeane held, helped, and nurtured her daughters, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren and took great joy in it.
Jeane is survived by her husband of 71 years, Stanley; daughters, Beth of Woodburn, IA and Becky of West Des Moines; granddaughters, Melissa of West Des Moines and Veronica of Urbandale; great-grandson, Alex (Makayla) and their daughters, Luna and Athena of St. Charles, IA; great-granddaughter, Morogan of West Des Moines; sister, Carrie McDowell of Parker, AZ; sister-in-law, Wilma Head and her family; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and many Amaranth friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Margaret and Frances; and a brother, Orville.
Memorials may be directed to the West Des Moines United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
