Hazel Ellen Chapman, 91, passed away May 1, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 5 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Hazel was born October 30, 1923 to Irvin and Lennie Cooper near Albia, IA. She worked at the Ordinance Plant in Des Moines, Dunlap Sporting Goods and Iowa Parcel as a bookkeeper. Hazel enjoyed camping, dancing to country music, garage sales and traveling to Branson and the Ozarks.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Theresa) Mullins Jr., Esta (Ken Jr.) Deever, Stephen (Deb) Mullins and Mary (Chuck) Fisher; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; great-grandson, Brady Mullins; six sisters and one brother.
