Emma V. Anderson, 100, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 20, 2018 at her home in Des Moines. A private graveside service for the family will be at Evergreen Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nevada, Iowa.
Emma was born January 28, 1917 to Hugh and Sarah (Kline) Teel in Lenora, Kansas. She graduated in 1935 from Lenora High School and then went onto attend teaching college in Hayes, Kansas. Emma met the love of her life, Edward, while she was a member of the women’s quartet through her church. She and Edward were united in marriage in 1941 and together raised one son and two daughters. Emma enjoyed knitting and crocheting hats for premature babies, and continued to give charitable donations to children in need, whether monetary or by making something from her heart. She was always interested in current events and kept up to date on what was going on in the world. She loved God, family and friends.
Emma is survived by her son, Edward (LaVerne) Anderson of Winter Haven, FL; two daughters, Dorothy Brown of Des Moines and Patricia Hippen of Flandreau, SD; grandchild, Shannon (Brett) Rickabaugh and their children, Alexander and Cassandra; grandchild, Eric (Charlotte) Hippen and their children, Nehemiah and Matthias; and grandchild, Kristin (Bradley) Grubb and their children, Elijah, Xavier and Aly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings, Loretta Teel, Esther Lindenman and Edward Teel.
