Duane Lee Michael Fritz, 60, passed away December 29, 2023 at Accura Healthcare in Pleasantville. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2024 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines with visitation from 1 p.m. until service time at McLaren’s. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Mike was born September 24, 1963 in Syracuse, NY to Duane and Margaret (Bouvier) Fritz. His dad was in the Air Force so Mike got to have many experiences and lived in various states and countries. Mike had a big heart and a gentle soul. If you met him you couldn’t help but like him. He attended Ruby Van Meter in Des Moines and graduated in 1985. Mike was affiliated with many services and organizations: Link Associates, Crest Services, Easter Seals, REM, and Special Olympics. He took part in many activities and excelled at a variety of sports including being a Special Olympics State Champion weightlifter. Mike loved his family, friends, and celebrating holidays. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved listening to music!
Mike is survived by his mom, Margaret; sisters, Terri (Sheryl) and Beth; and brother, Kevin (Barb). He was preceded in death by his father, Duane; brother-in-law, Jon Bennett; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
