Dorothy (Dot) Rickert, 72, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Edgewater in West Des Moines, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday at McLaren’s Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Dorothy was born in Waverly, Iowa and moved to Des Moines after high school to attend AIB Business College. After being a stay-at-home Mother for many years she started her picture framing business, Dot’s Frame Shop, until retiring in 2003. Dorothy loved traveling and caring for her family, her seven grandchildren and her puppy Zoey. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandma who will always be loved and incredibly missed by her family.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Craig: two daughters, Diane (David) Gantt of Urbandale and Debi (Todd Gaffney) Loffredo of West Des Moines; son, David (Lori) Rickert of Urbandale; and seven grandchildren, William and Amy Rickert, Jim, John and Joseph Loffredo, and Brian and Hannah Rickert. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and John Remley.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Wesley Acres Adult Day Care.
