Donna Susan Gibbons

Donna was born on September 26, 1958, to William and Ann Fox in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1976. She married the love of her life, Dan, on October 2nd, 1982. She spent over fifteen years working at Westridge Elementary School, where she took great pride working with special needs and kindergarten students. Her other passions included gardening, traveling, and most importantly, spending time with friends and family. Donna was a relentless helper and never hesitated to jump into action when called upon. Her carefree personality shined through in the darkest of times, and she was always the first on the dance floor to get the party started.

She is survived by her husband Dan, her son James (Melissa), her daughter Amanda, two grandchildren Nash and Rowen, mother Ann, sisters Debi and Nancy, brother Michael, sisters-in-law Sherry and Sue, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father William, brother William Jr., father-in-law Jack, and mother-in-law Phyllis.

Donna’s family would like to thank family, friends, neighbors, and her care team for their compassion and support.

The visitation to honor Donna’s life will be held on Thursday, April 25th from 5:00-7:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Avenue, Clive, Iowa 50325. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to John Stoddard Cancer Center in Donna’s name.
