Dean M Johnson

Dean M. Johnson passed away on April 2, 2019 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2019 at McLaren’s Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Dean was born on January 19, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas to Milton R. and Esther M. Johnson. He attended Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas, graduating in 1945. He attended the University of Kansas and graduated in 1950 with a Business Degree. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity while there. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. He was employed by the Uniroyal Company for 40 years. He enjoyed winters with Marion in Marco Island, Florida and was an avid bridge player. He enjoyed trips to the University of Iowa football games.

He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Marion Radnich of Clive, Iowa; step-son, Michael Ladd (Sally) of Batavia, Illinois; granddaughter, Heidi Owen of Iowa City and a great granddaughter, Taylor Owen of Iowa City. Dean was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bernita.
