Urbandale
Dawn Marie Kaufman Lindberg, 45, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston after a courageous 17-month battle with cancer.
Visitation will be hosted from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, February 29, and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, both at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.
Born on June 3, 1970 in Moline, Illinois to parents Delbert and Carolyn Kaufman, Dawn was a spunky little girl with an extra sparkle in her eye. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1988, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Northern Iowa in 1992, and achieved the designation of Certified Public Accountant that same year. She excitedly embraced her role as a loving aunt in 1999, and carried that enthusiasm through the birth and mentoring of each of her nephews and niece. Dawn married the father of her children, James Lindberg, in September of 1999. Her most cherished role was that of a loving mother to Jenna and Nathan. As a family, they enjoyed fanatically supporting Iowa State athletics, watching NFL football, being pampered with manicures and pedicures, and vacationing in the Ozarks, Mexico, and Florida. They were blessed with the opportunity for one final trip together to swim with the dolphins at Discovery Cove. Dawn served as a devoted and dedicated Finance Manager at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage until the time of her passing.
Dawn is survived by her children, Jenna and Nathan; parents, Delbert and Carolyn Kaufman of Redfield, IA; sister, Michelle (Tony) Rogers of Waukee; brother, Aaron Kaufman of Jacksonville, FL; grandmother, Myrtle Kaufman of Manson, IA; niece, Christine Zoretic of St. Charles, IL; nephews, Grady, C.J., and Cooper Rogers of Waukee, Nicholas and Andrew Zoretic of St. Charles, IL; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandparents, James and Neva Matticks, and Eldon Kaufman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards Jenna and Nathan’s scholarship fund or the American Cancer Society.
Dawn’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Tom Buroker, the staff of 3rd Floor Powell at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, and the staff at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
