David Foley, 62, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines, Iowa.
David was born in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania and was raised in Bergenfield, New Jersey. He came to Des Moines to get his education at Drake University and met his wife, Sharon Randall. He was working on his 37th year as a security officer at Drake when he died.
He enjoyed coaching his children’s sports teams and taught several children to play the trumpet. David loved to read, watch T.V., spend time with his granddaughters, and follow his favorite sports teams: the New York Yankees, Iowa Wild, and his beloved Bulldogs. He was also a member of H.O.G. and was an organ donor.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sharon; daughter, Christina (Alan) Buchanan of Des Moines; son, Dan Foley of Urbandale; and two granddaughters, Alayna and Kiera Buchanan. David was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lillian Foley, Sr.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
