Danny was born on December 20, 1951in Des Moines to Marilyn (Miller) and Herbert Thomas. He was a graduate of Valley High School and Red Rocks College in Lakewood, CO. Danny military veteran and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a professional firefighter and retired from the City of Boulder in Colorado.
His hobbies included traveling, hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, picnics, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his special friend Gloria Yergan of McGregor, MN; sons, Nick (Danielle) of Johnstown, CO, Steve of Norwalk IA, Jeff of Johnstown, CO; grandchildren Carter and Jackson Strain; sister Connie (Mike) Byars of Lake Mills, IA ; brothers Ron (Donna) Thomas of Orilla, IA and Jim Thomas of Des Moines, IA. His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 1 pm on Friday, September 6 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday evening at the funeral chapel. Burial with military honors will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Orilla.
