Colleen I. Pingrey

Colleen I. Pingrey, 78, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, August 21, 2023 at home. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time at McLaren’s. Family and friends will gather at the house after the services for light refreshments.

Colleen was born in Des Moines to Helen and Kenneth Berg. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1962 and completed an Associates (AA) degree in California. She was a lifelong resident of Windsor Heights/Des Moines. Colleen worked for the City of Windsor Heights as City Financial Officer (CFO) for over 30 years. She valued family and was selflessly devoted to her family. Colleen was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was always there whether we needed her or not. Her “botanical backyard” was one of her many great pride and joys. She was also an avid reader and bird enthusiast.

Colleen is survived by her son, John of Palm Desert, California; daughter, Christine of Des Moines, Iowa; one grandchild, Hanne; two sisters, Velma Hendrickson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Bertha Grijalva of Chicago, Illinois.
