CLIVE - Arrived on this earth on Halloween, 1935, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1941, He moved to Seattle, Washington, where his dad worked in the shipyards and his mother worked as a laundress. The year of 1945 brought a move back to Iowa where he completed his schooling and graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1954. He played football and basketball and was a long distance runner. He worked on farms in that area as well. In 1957, he began employment with Dairy Industry Company (DICO) in Des Moines, fabricating wax milk cartons for dairy sites in Iowa. In 1958, he was drafted and served his military
time in the U.S. Army at Fort Lee, Virginia. In 1959, he married Janice Atkinson on September 11th and accomplished a marriage of nearly 62 precious years. In 1960, after his discharge, he went back to DICO for an additional four years, leaving in 1964 to join the U.S. Postal service and serving there for 33 years at the main post office in Des Moines. His favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting and horseracing. His greatest joys were his sons and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Ethel Hanks and sister Ladonna Hardman. He is survived by his wife, Janice, sons; Kyle (Tami), Kirk (Toni),
grandson Riley Hanks and granddaughter Kaylee Hanks. A visitation will be Thursday, June 10, 2021
from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and his funeral will be Friday, June 11, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. both being at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel. He will be laid to rest at the Resthaven Mausoleum
