Cheryl Ann Moore, 67 years of age, passed away on March 5, 2020 in Mesa, AZ. She grew up in the Star Methodist Church Community near Coon Rapids and graduated from CRHS in 1971. Cheryl was an excellent student and an outstanding basketball player. While in High School, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, which had a profound influence on her life. She graduated from Simpson College with a Communications Degree and worked in Des Moines for several years. When she could no longer work, she became an avid follower of politics and current events, and her “letters to the editor” were frequently published in the Des Moines Register. In search of a friendlier climate, Cheryl moved to New Mexico and then to Arizona, to be near her brother. Mark’s home in Mesa became the headquarters for frequent meetings of the Sibling Committee, as coined by Cheryl.
She was preceded in death by her mother Arion Moore, her father Charles Moore, maternal grandparents Beulah and Virgil Booton, and paternal grandparents Hobart Moore and Agnes Glenn. She was also preceded by her aunts Helen Wheeler, Shirley Dusheck, and Virginia Rohlfsen and by her uncle Kenneth Gillespie.
She is survived by her brother Mark Moore and wife Darlene of Mesa, AZ, sisters Gwen Childs and husband Kent of Springfield, IL, Jana Fackrell and husband Scott of Clive, IA, and by their children and grandchildren. She also leaves her aunt, Lavonne Sjoberg of Waconia, MN, and her uncle Ed Moore and wife Scyrina of Gig Harbor, WA, along with many cousins. Her bravery, determination, intelligence and quick wit will be warmly remembered by all who loved her.
