Caroline Beatrice Bailey

Caroline Bailey, 88, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Methodist Hospital. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Caroline was born June 16, 1926 in Grand Island, Nebraska the daughter of Otto and Clara Falldorf. She was a teacher, business owner and retired as a secretary for the state of Iowa. Caroline was a member of Windsor Heights Lutheran Church, Elderberries and the Ladies Saturday Luncheon Group. She loved bird watching, Sunday rides, gathering unique rocks, crossword puzzles, arranging flowers, and learned to play golf at the age of 68.

She is survived by two daughters, Jo Goodman of Olathe, Kansas and Jeanette Schmett of Urbandale, Iowa; son, Doug (Linda) Bailey of Overland Park, Kansas; sister, Lois (Merle) Thaden of Florida; five grandchildren, Gretchen Jansen, Jeff (Carolyn) Bailey, Mark Bailey, Brad (Julee) Bailey, and Tom Bailey; five great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Bailey; her parents; granddaughter, Allison Bailey; two sisters, Velma Mostek and Alberta Falldorf; and two brothers, Virgil and Curt Falldorf.
