Brian D. Alberts

Brian Alberts, 64, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines. He was born February 11, 1956 in Des Moines to Dr. Marion and Jeannette Alberts. Brian enjoyed playing sports and instruments as well as working at the YMCA summer camps. He graduated from West Des Moines Valley High School in 1974.

Brian’s hatred for the winter months motivated him to create the annual “I Hate Winter Party” which celebrated his love for sporting his fashionable Hawaiian attire and was attended by his friends and family. He always looked forward to trips with his friends to Prairie Meadows. Brian enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren. He spent 20+ years watching his kids play sports, including dance and soccer. Many of his grandchildren then followed suit so he got the opportunity to watch them carry on the sporting traditions. The grandkids kept Brian’s spirit young and his face lit up when he was around them.

He was survived by his children, Ryan (Michelle) Alberts, Courtney Alberts, Dustin (Lisa) Alberts, and Cody (Christine) Alberts; eight grandchildren, Bella “Izzy”, Braeyden, Logan, Mason, Max, Libby, Declan and Grayson; and brother-in-law, Denny Schneider and his family; sister, Deborah (Kevin) Prust and their family; and brother, Timothy (Angie) Alberts and their family. He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister, Kathryn Schneider.
