Des Moines
Brad Dillon, 43, passed away April 10, 2013 at his home after a 22 month battle with colon cancer. A celebration of his life will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery at a later date.
Brad was born March 10, 1970 in Clarinda, IA. He was a generous, kind and loving man who fought his battle with bravery and acceptance. Brad had a huge heart and a very witty sense of humor. He had a great love for motorcycles and fast cars but his first and greatest love was his family. Brad was an exceptional father, husband, son and brother. His greatest prides were his daughters, Erin Nichole, 11 and Katelyn Brooke, 8. Brad would tell them to “think with logic and reason”.
Brad will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 13 years, Lara; two daughters; parents, Ron and Sandi Schultz; brothers, Casey (Janet) McKinnon, Travis Schultz and Drew Schultz; sisters, Chrissy and Jennifer Schultz; mother-in-law, Diana Messerly; brother-in-law, Lance (Jodi) Messerly; sister-in-law, Dawn (Rick) Wesselman; nephews, Martin McKinnon, Cole Wesselman, Bryce Bertran, Hayden Messerly and Lucas Messerly; nieces, Cassandra McKinnon and Lauren Wesselman. He was preceded in death by his biological father, Paul Dillon Jr.; grandparents, Lillian and Verne Stoops and Lilly and Paul Dillon.
The family would like to give a huge thanks to the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center who have been so supportive and understanding during the darkest days. To Dr. Brad Lair, Dr. Philip Colletier and their staff for their expertise and compassion. A huge hug to the neighbors of Northwest Drive who have made this journey very humbling and bearable with all of their kindness.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in honor of Brad for the benefit of his daughters.
