Beverly Marne Davisson

Beverly Marne Davisson, 92, of Des Moines, Iowa, died at home Monday, April 11, 2011. She was born on December 18, 1918 in Waterloo. She married W. Reed Davisson on August 18, 1939 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. In 1941 Beverly was the Meredith Publishing Cribbage Champion. Beverly started her career at Better Homes and Gardens in Des Moines and brought that experience into the home building business with her late husband. Together they worked side by side in the construction and development business and were responsible for the growth of many areas of Des Moines and West Des Moines.

She and her late husband had a wonderful life working as a team, traveling the world and being very generous in their charitable contributions. They were dedicated to friends and family. She will be remembered for her great business acumen, loyalty and her sense of style and charm. She will be greatly missed.

Beverly is survived by two children, Craig Reed Davisson (Lucy) of Des Moines and Linda J. Davidson (Jim) of Bonita Springs, FL. She is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great grand children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Reed Davisson, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Wakonda Christian Church, where she was a member for many years. Entombment will be in the Resthaven Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 pm Friday at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines.

The family would like to express its appreciation to Beverly’s caretakers and Mary Demerath who made her last 37 years more comfortable.
