Bernice Nadine Wiley, 97, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Urbandale Health Care Center. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2022 at West Des Moines Christian Church followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Bernice was born May 18, 1925 in Des Moines to Richard and Mable (Johnson) Lowe and graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines. She married Ken Newell and had two children but later divorced. She then met and married William Wiley in 1966 and enjoyed many wonderful years together before his death in 2002, which included camping and square dancing.
Bernice worked at Preferred Risk and retired after more than 20 years of service. She continued to doing clerical work for several other small businesses in West Des Moines. Bernice loved to bake and was very well known for it.
Bernice is survived by two children, Rich and Ken; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lawrence Lowe. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; and two brothers.
