Arvid A. Bloomburg Jr., 93, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, just two weeks shy of his 94th birthday. Services will be on Saturday, April 6th at 10:30 a.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines followed by burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. A visitation will take place the night before from 6 - 8 p.m. at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines.
Arvid was born in Des Moines, Iowa on April 7, 1930, to Arvid, Sr., and Edna (Fish) Bloomburg. He was a 1948 graduate of Des Moines Tech. High School. He started his career at Meredith Printing. It was there he met the love of his life, Nellouise Goff. They were united in marriage and 9 days later left for the Korean War in the Army. After being discharged, he returned to work for Meredith/R.R. Donnelly where he would retire 43 years later.
He was a 60+ year member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was also a former member of the Golden K-Kiwanis Club. Arvid enjoyed giving his time, and he did so by volunteering at the church and serving others. Arvid enjoyed dancing so much, in fact he and Nellouise were members of the Fairs and Squares Square Dance Club. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.
Arvid is survived by his daughter, Sally (Alex) Creger of Johnston and son, Michael (Jean) Bloomburg of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren, Emily (Brad) Croll, Christine Baker, Reid (Alli) Baker, Andy (Melissa) Creger, Aaron (Katie) Creger, Adam Creger, Elizabeth, and Katherine Bloomburg; seven great-grandchildren, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellouise; sisters, Virginia Powell, Patricia Sayles, Marilyn James, and good friend, Ann Wright.
