Arlene H. Richmond, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2013. A celebration of her life will be 3 p.m. Saturday, February 23 at the West Des Moines United Methodist Church with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Arlene was born June 10, 1916 to Cleo and Ovoca (Clausen) Barnes in Lovilia, IA. She was an honor roll graduate of East High School in Des Moines. Arlene was a resident of West Des Moines since 1933 and retired from the West Des Moines School District. She enjoyed Big Band music, ballroom dancing and playing cards with "The Girls". She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Arlene is survived by her son, Keith (Deborah) Richmond; grandson, Elek (Amy) Richmond; granddaughter, Suzanne (Brad) Collings; and great-grandsons, Elek and Heath Richmond.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to her church, of which she was a longtime member.
