Alan L. “Al” Lewis, 69, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Al was born January 23, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Gwendolyn (Graves) Lewis. He served in the U.S. Navy after high school and married Connie Eckley on August 27, 1977. Al retired from Qwest (CenturyLink) after working 30+ years.

Al loved to cook and barbecue, enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling, and followed the Dallas Cowboys, Yankees and NASCAR. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; three children, Nancy (Dennis) DeCosta, Patrick Lewis (Mackensey Gervasi), and Valerie (Timothy) Rosser; five grandchildren; and many other family and friends. Al was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Faye Lewis; and uncles and aunts.
