Phyllis C. Steuerwald

Phyllis C. Steuerwald, age 93, passed away at Oak Park Place in Madison WI on August 25, 2011.

She was born February 7, 1918 in Weehwken, NJ to Richard and Adeline Hopf.

She graduated from Hillside High School (NJ) in 1935 and began a secretarial career before her marriage to Robert J. Steuerwald in 1942. The family moved to Williamstown MA in 1959 where she resumed her secretarial career, first in the Williamstown public schools and then at Mt. Greylock Regional High School. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church.

She lived in Beverly Hills FL for the past twenty years prior to moving to Madison in the fall of 2010.

She enjoyed travel, dancing, playing cards and was an avid reader and puzzler.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Gillen of Madison WI and Barbara Sloan of Hidden Valley PA, and her granddaughter, Virginia Sloan of Greensburg PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter Joan.
