Raul Villanueva, 92, left to be with the Lord on Monday, October 28, 2024 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. He was born to Jose Antonio & Cruz Villanueva on November 16, 1931 in Mexico. Raul loved to go to bingo and gamble at the casinos. He enjoyed his hot cup of coffee and storytelling to his grandchildren. Raul was gentle and kind to all those he encountered, was friendly and said "Hi" to everyone, even strangers. He was always full of energy, loved to dance and to wear his cowboy boots and hat. Raul leaves a legacy of hard work and dedication, during his younger years, he would migrate with his seven children and was always willing to give valuable life advice. He will forever be remembered for his unconditional love for his family and their time shared together, celebrating life. Left to cherish these memories is his beloved wife, Dolores Villanueva and their children: Isabel Cristina (Sergio) Garcia, Maria Evelia Trejo, Raul (Maria) Villanueva Jr, Elizabeth (Juan) Galvez, Rosaelia (Noe Garcia) Villanueva and Maria Dolores (Jesus) Martinez. He will also be greatly missed by 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Raul is now reunited with his parents and daughter, Cruz Zepeda who have preceded him in death.
Family will receive friends Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 3 pm to midnight with a rosary recited at 7 pm at Funeraria del Angel Highland in Weslaco. Funeral service will be celebrated at 1 pm, Friday, November 1, 2024 at Funeraria del Angel Highland in Weslaco followed by the interment at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
