Mary Garcia was born on September 29, 1942 to Herman and Rosa Mendez in Weslaco, TX. In her high school years she was a twirler, named Catholic War Veteran Sweetheart, Knights of Columbus Sweetheart, and LULAC Sweetheart. After Mary graduated from Weslaco High School in 1960, she went on to study Cosmetology.
After graduating with a degree in Cosmetology, Mary worked as a Beautician then worked at Handy Andy before retiring from Albertson’s where she was a checker.
She married her high school sweetheart, Trinidad Garcia, and had two sons, Anson and Neri. They were married for over 45 years.
Besides being a wife and mother, Mary loved vacationing with the family and fun times with her sons’ many neighborhood friends after school and at birthday parties. She also enjoyed hosting her family for many years of Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings and accompanying dinners.
Mary is survived by her two sons Anson Garcia (Lynn) and Neri Garcia, her sisters Ida (Roy Salinas), Frances, Norma (Sergio Gonzalez), Alma (Richard Suarez), her brothers Baldemar Mendez (Erika), Heriberto (Eddie) Mendez (Eloise), Eleazar (Sony) Mendez (Esmeralda), Anastacio (Tacho) Mendez (Brooke), and George Mendez (Janie). Mary also has 6 grandchildren (Amber, Caeden, Trinity, Alex, Remington, and Landyn.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Trinidad Garcia, her parents Herman and Rosa Mendez, and her brother Reynaldo Mendez.
