He is preceded in death by his parents, Andres M. and Maria del Refugio Salazar; and siblings, Jesus Salazar, Maria E. Torres, Maria J. Ramirez and Rosa M. Solis.
Mario is survived by a daughter, Sonia Rangel (Marcelino); son, Mario Salazar Jr. (Analisa Davila); grandchildren, Victoria Rangel, Nicholas Rangel, Phoenix Samuel Salazar, and Raleigh Benecio Salazar; siblings, Juan Salazar, Margarito Salazar, Andres Salazar Jr., and Leticia Salazar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel-Highland Funeral Home in Weslaco. A chapel service will occur Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
