Marco (Mark) Salazar age 46 went home to be with his Lord & Savior September 10, 2018. He passed away at his lifetime home with his family. He was born April 7, 1972 to Leo Salazar and Emma Quesada (Salazar). He is survived by his brother Leo Salazar, Jr. and his sister Ida Linda Salazar (Garcia), uncle Ramon Salazar, uncle Crispin Salazar, aunt Janey Quesada, and 7 nephews and 3 nieces. Marco is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Crispin and Celia Salazar, his materal grandparents Juan Alejandro and Rosa Quesada , his uncles Rodolfo Quesada, Juan Quesada Jr., and Arnoldo Salazar.
Mark was a restaurateur working in the family business, Casa De Marisco and Salazar’s Burgers y Mas (Marco Abiel Salazar) in Weslaco, Texas all his life.
Salazar’s Burgers reflects the fun loving side with Elvis, James Dean & Marilyn Monroe memorabilia. The menu featured his very own and popular signature burger, ‘The South Texas Burger’.
Salazar’s Burgers Restaurant was his love but charity was his passion. Genuine kindness is doing something without expecting anything in return, and this is where he flourished. It was not unusual to see him walk outside to give a person in need a bag of food, or money to people who were going through hardships. Ever since he was young, Marco was a dreamer. He was the kind of man who not only had dreams, but worked hard every day to see those dreams come true. No matter what time of the day it was, you could always see him with a smile on his face. The kind of person that if he was having a bad day you would never even know it. He was a friend to the lonely and knew no strangers, often taking a cool drink to someone who needed it. The smile on his face let you know he was there for you. If he didn’t have the means to help with what was needed at the moment, he would go and find or borrow what was needed to help out his fellow man. His heart was so full of compassion he even cared about the smallest of creatures. He was a great uncle to his nephews and nieces, he supported their educational pursuits and always making sure he celebrated their achievements with a special dessert.
Laughter and trying to get a smile out of those around him was one of his most endearing qualities.
His kindness and contagious smile will be so greatly missed by all of us. Mark changed the world around him with acts of kindness and giving a helping hand to those he could within his reach. In lieu of flowers the Salazar family would like to encourage you to touch your world with an act of random kindness as often as you can.
