Liborio "Leo" Rodriguez, age 66, of Progreso, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021. "Leo" was born April 18, 1954 in Mercedes, Texas to Maria Rodriguez and Severino Rodriguez. He will be forever loved and remembered.
After graduating from Weslaco High School in 1973, Leo went on to study Animal Science at Sul Ross State University. He used his degree to work for the USDA, where he retired as a meat grader. After his retirement, he spent his time helping others in the community. He was a religious teacher, a substitute for La Feria ISD and worked at his family's business, he also was a member of the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show committee.
Leo loved being outdoors, he found great joy in cooking for everyone, and he loved spoiling his grandchildren.
"Leo" is survived by daughter Rebecca Rodriguez (Leeroy Martinez); son Leo Rodriguez Jr. (Melissa); son Lionel Rodriguez; and daughter Adriana Rodriguez (Alvaro Pulido); brother Rudy Rodriguez Sr. (Anna), brother Adan Rodriguez (Teresa), sister Olga Morton (Ricky+) and sister Thelma Rodriguez; grandchildren: Matthew Mercado, Jonathan Rodriguez, Christopher Rodriguez, Sae Martinez, Rye Martinez and Lilliana Pulido.
"Leo" was preceded in death by father Severino Rodriguez and mother Maria Rodriguez; maternal grandfather Rafael Garcia, maternal grandmother Hermelinda Garcia, paternal grandfather Jose Rodriguez, and paternal grandmother Francisca Rodriguez.
Visitation Services for "Leo" will be held Friday, April 16, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Highland Funeral Home located at 6705 N FM 88 in Weslaco, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church located at 210 Watts St. in Progreso, Texas. A cremation will follow at a later date.
