Born on June 22,1930, Juanita lived a long, full life surrounded by the love of her family. She was a woman of quiet strength and boundless warmth, known for her gentle heart, her generous spirit, and the joy she brought into every room she entered.
Juanita found beauty and comfort in the simple things. She loved spending time in her garden, nurturing flowers and vegetables with the same care and attention she gave her family. Her hands were rarely still—whether sewing, embroidering intricate designs, or preparing meals that brought everyone together. Her cooking was the centerpiece of many cherished memories, her kitchen a place of laughter, storytelling, and love.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Salvador Cortez, and her daughter, Grace Cortez. Though we grieve her loss deeply, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with them in eternal peace.
Juanita’s legacy lives on in her children: Maria C Ramirez (Antonio), Juan Salvador Cortez (Betty), Lucilla C. Ybarra (Mark), Gloria C. Martinez (Joel), and Carlos H. Cortez (Cindy); her 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She took immense pride in her family, and her love will continue to echo through the generations she helped shape.
Her presence was a blessing, her absence a sorrow. Juanita will be remembered always for her kindness, her grace, and the love she gave so freely.
A visitation for Juanita will occur on Friday, April 25,2025 at 3PM-10PM with a prayer service at 7PM. A chapel service will occur Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 10AM with a burial to follow. All services will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Highland, 6705 N FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78596.
