Francisca "Frances" C. Padilla, age 92, of Weslaco, Texas went to be with Our Lord on Friday, March 10, 2023. Francisca was born on June 4, 1930 to Andres G. Cano and Andrea Riojas Cano at The Los Indios Ranch, which is located on FM 1015 between Edcouch and Mercedes in Hidalgo County.She is preceded in death by parents, her loving husband; Adolfo C. Padilla, brothers; Arnulfo Cano and Amadeo Cano her sister Cleotilde C. Werbiski and her great grandson Matthew Morrissey Hernandez. Francisca is survived by her children; Javier Padilla (Juanita), Maria Elma Ortiz (Apolonio), Elsa Linda Ortega (Clement), Jaime Padilla (Mary†), Neva Lillian Olguin (Juan), Jorge Padilla (Corina), Nellie Ruth Coronado (Juan) and Reynaldo "Rey" Olguin. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Frances was a loyal wife and exceptional mother. She loved to dance, garden and travel. She also enjoyed shopping and spending time laughing with family. She touched many lives including animals and her beloved plants. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She always ensured that every living thing who crossed her path was safe, healthy and happy. She actively assisted with administrative and management duties alongside her husband who was the crew leader as he led many migrant workers in their era of "Los Braceros" to relocate upstate for work. Once her children got older, she too led them into migrant working in several North East states. They also did manual labor field work in the Rio Grande Valley with cotton, tomatoes, onions, etc. Her family grieves her loss, but they take comfort knowing that Adolfo and Frances are together again.
