June 13, 1952 – April 16, 2025
Antonio G. López (72) entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 with his loving family by his side. Born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, to Guadalupe A. and Blanca G. López, Antonio was the third of ten children. The family eventually moved to Monte Alto, Texas, where Antonio resided for the remainder of his life. A 1973 graduate of Edcouch-Elsa High School, he soon earned an Associate's in Business from Texas State Technical Institute, now TSTC, which led to his employment by Edcouch-Elsa ISD as a bookkeeper. After nine years with EEISD, Antonio became the Business Manager for Monte Alto ISD until his retirement in 2003.
An avid outdoorsman, Antonio frequently spent time with his father and brothers hunting deer and fishing throughout South Texas and even in Montana. As the years continued, Antonio and his wife Emma embraced this love of the outdoors by purchasing and maintaining a ranch in Duvall County. When not surrounded by nature, Antonio would busy himself by keeping up with current events, building and maintaining rental properties, including building the family home, other home improvement projects, and spending time with his growing family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe & Blanca López; his youngest brother, Alberto López; two of his children, Baby López and Erica DeeAnn López; and his mother-in-law, Balvina Vasquez.
Antonio is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Emma Gene López, whom he married on December 27, 1975. His son Antonio López Jr. (Irelia); daughters Norma Linda Garate (Rafael), Vanessa Marie López-Torres (Jorge), Cassondra Gene López (Thomas); grandchildren Michael Villarreal (Alejandra), Isabella Garate, Emma Garate, Gabriel Torres, Efraín Torres, Mayela Torres, a soon to be great-grand child, Baby Villarreal; and siblings Juan Ramon López (Delia), Lupita Torres (Noe†), Maria de los Angeles López, Alejandro López (Cathy), Janie Ledesma (Javier), Blanca Medina (Armando), David López (Sandra), and Armando López (Olivia) and numerous nieces, nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
