Angelica Salto, age 76, of Mercedes, Texas left to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. Born on 5/20/1948 to Rafael Maldonado and Gilberta Iracheta, at Doctor Arroyo, Nuevo Leon. Raised in Rio Bravo Tamaulipas, oldest of three siblings: Ernesto and Jose Maldonado. She met the love of her life, Pedro Lorenzo Salto, while working as migrants in South Florida. They were married on October 6, 1973. They had five children together. She loss her Lorenzo and was widowed on January 6, 2001due to heart complications. Nevertheless, she continued to love her family and helped raised her grandchildren. She was known for her love of watching movies especially scary and classic Mexican movies, listening to Pedro Infante, making tortillas de harina by hand, and creating a loving home. She is survived by her five children: Rafael Salto (Erika Salto), Elsa Salto (Israel Delgado), Jessica Martinez (Jesus Martinez), Angelica Salto Cervantes (Raymundo Cervantes), Ana Isabel Martinez Salto (Jose De Jesus Martinez); 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
An overnight visitation for Angelica will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 starting at 1:00 PM with a rosary recited at 7:00 PM till 10:00 AM (Sunday) at Funeraria del Angel Highland. A funeral service will occur Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at 11:00 AM at Highland Memorial Park,and a catered reception to follow Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 12:00 PM, back at the funeral home.
