Andrea Palomo, a beloved mother, grandmother, great -grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, entered into eternal rest on April 13, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her most. She was 97 years old.
A lifelong resident of Donna, TX, Andrea was a devoted member of Primera Iglesias Bautista, where she served faithfully for decades. She was also a dedicated member of the Women in Missions group, "La Faminil", where her faith, humility, and strength shone brightly in everything she did.
Andrea was a woman of deep faith and quiet strength, known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and church community. Her home was always open- a safe haven where relatives, friends, and neighbors felt welcomed and cared for. Whether it was for a holiday, celebration, or simply a visit, Andrea always had something warm and ready on the stove and something sweeter in the oven.
She was especially known for her legendary "pan de polvo" cookies — a treasured treat she lovingly baked for fundraisers, weddings, quinceañeras, birthdays, baby showers, and anyone in need of a little joy. Andrea also found peace and purpose in her crafts — crocheting and knitting with incredible skill. Her hands created intricate table covers gifted to her daughters and daughters-in-law, and she always had a pair of cozy, hand-knit booties ready to share, no matter the season or recipient. She delighted in the simple pleasures of life, often spending quiet afternoons playing dominos, coloring, painting, or working on word search puzzles — each activity a reflection of her creativity, patience, and joy in the little things.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesus Palomo Sr., her daughter Elvira Palomo Gonzalez, her parents Francisco Perales and Dionesia Perales, her stepmother Maria Perales, her siblings Abraham Perales, Macaria Alvarez, Francisco Perales Jr., and half-brother Pablo Perales.
She is survived by her children Wally Palomo (Guadalupe "Lupe"), Jesus Palomo Jr. (Oralia), Oscar Palomo (Kelly), Hilda Malacara (Octavio), and Martha Salinas (Rolando); her 22+ grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her heart and legacy. She is also survived by her beloved siblings Enedina Garza, Antonio Perales, Maria de Jesus Marquez, Elida Ramirez, Jose Luis Perales, Gloria Lopez, Mary Garcia, Margarita Garcia, Roberto Perales, and Bernardo Perales.
Andrea's life was a reflection of God's grace- humble, caring, wise. Her support for her children and grandchildren never wavered, and her advice was always thoughtful and rooted in love and faith. Two of her favorite hymns, "How Great Thou Art" and "One Day at a Time", perfectly reflect the deep, enduring faith that guided her every step.
A visitation for Andrea will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 1PM to 9PM with a prayer service at 7PM. A chapel service will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 9AM with burial to follow. All services will be taken place at Funeraria Del Angel Highland and Memorial Park.
Her love and presence will be deeply missed, but we rejoice knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
