He was born in Texas and lived in Woodlawn. He had a magnetic personality, a master communicator, very generous with his time and thrived to accomplish all things. He loved life and people from all walks of life. He had a passion for flying. His aircraft of choice was the Stearman. He was a devoted family man.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrell Thompson Durbin; father, Isaac Hillebrandt; son, Carlton “Bubba” Duke and wife, Trish of Picayune, MS; daughters, Darla Duke Wilkins of Evadale, TX and Patty Duke Rotolo and husband, Mark of Prairieville, LA; step-daughter, Michelle Durbin Corvin and husband, David of Cypress, TX; brother, Ikey Hillebrandt of Vidor, TX; sisters, Lou Hillebrandt Kirkland and husband, Stevie of Vidor, TX, Sandra Hillebrandt Paskell and husband, Fred of Vidor, TX and Ruby Richardson of Vidor, TX; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Hillebrandt; daughter, Lisa Duke Peoples.
His service will be 2pm, Friday, May 31, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. Visitation will begin Thursday 4pm-9pm with a rosary at 7pm and resume Friday 8am until service time. Burial will be in Lacassine Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
