She was a member of First Baptist Church of Welsh. She was active in her church, was a homemaker who had a passion for baking and loved to prepare meals for her friends.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert L. Epperly of Welsh; sons, Donald Epperly and wife, Linda of Pearl, MS, Smiley Epperly and wife, Frances of Lafayette, LA; daughter, Connie Perkins and husband, Alvin of Ragley; brother, Robert Taylor and wife, Merle of Welsh; sister, Rena Belle Henning Monceaux of Welsh; grandchildren, Damon Epperly of Welsh, Derek Epperly of Key West, FL, Brandon Epperly and wife, Katrina of Lafayette, Jonathan Doucet and wife, Nancy of Lake Charles, Shelley Doucet of Lake Charles, Kimberly Epperly of Lafayette as well as great grandchildren, Christian Epperly, Darrian Epperly, Alexis Mott, Emma Trahan, Brynna Doucet and Elizabeth McDaniel. She was preceded in death by her father, Smiley Taylor; mother Alta Taylor Smith and step father, Lee Smith.
Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Welsh. Rev. Lathan Hill and Rev. Claude Fontenot will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh on Saturday from 5-9 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. til 12 noon.
