He was a very jolly person and loved to joke and pass a good time. Walter loved his family and loved to fish and hunt. He was a Mason for many years and he loved to visit, dance to zydeco music and travel. He was the first secretary in the NAACP.
He is survived by his sons, Alex Thibo and wife Denise of Port Arthur, TX, Felix Cook and wife Katherine of Las Vegas, NV, Phillip Malbrough of Port Arthur, TX, Leroy Cook of San Jose , CA and Wallace Cook and wife Maricar Mendoza Cook of Lathrop, CA; daughters, Ida Mae Williams and husband Nathaniel of Miss City, TX, Mary Thomas Austin and husband Raymond of Newport News, VA, Leola Fields and husband Roy Lee of San Jose, CA and Amy Cook Bullock and husband Vincent of Newport News, VA.
Left to cherish his memory is many grandchildren, great grandchild and a host of friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Malbrough Cook; parents, Felix and Mary Jones Cook; sons, Willie Thibo and Walter Cook Jr.; daughters, Donna James and Velma Washington.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10am, Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Rayne, LA. Father Wagner will officiate. Visitation will begin Friday 5pm-10pm with a rosary at 6pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. Interment will be in Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church Cemetery.
