Jack was born on January 19, 1922 in Pine Island. He graduated from Welsh High School. Jack was a United States Veteran of the United States Army Air Force having served in World War II. He married Wilda Taylor Epperly June 3, 1946. He retired from The Mutual Warehouse (John Deere Implement). Jack was Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church in Welsh. He served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons; Donald Epperly (Linda), Hemphill, TX, Smiley Epperly (Frances), Lafayette, and daughter, Connie Epperly Perkins (Alvin), Ragley, grandsons; Damon Epperly of Lake Charles, Derek Epperly (Grace) of Key West, Fla., Brandon Epperly,(Katrina), Youngsville, and Jonathan Doucet (Nancy) of Lake Charles, granddaughters; Shelley Doucet of Lake Charles and Kimberly E. Broussard (Derek) of Maurice, great-grandsons; Christian, Darion, Dash, and Asher Epperly, great-granddaughters, Elizabeth McDaniel, Brynna Doucet, Emma Trahan, Alexis Matt, Savannah Epperly, and Madelyn Broussard, great-great-grandsons; Jackson and Carter Epperly and a great-great-granddaughter, Violet Taylor.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Taylor Epperly; parents, Frank Epperly and Rosalee Prentice Epperly, five brothers; Albert Epperly, James Epperly, Sr., Johnny Epperly, Charles (Buzz) Epperly, Floyd Epperly, and one sister, Jeanette Epperly Sheumaker.
The visitation will commence at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm and will continue on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 9:00am until 12:30 at the funeral home. Visitation will resume at First Baptist Church of Welsh from 1:00pm until time of service at 2:00pm. Rev. Pat Deshotel will officiate. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh.
