He was born March 5, 1926 in Duson, LA to Julien and Ella (Comeaux) Sonnier. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clariel and Lawrence Sonnier and four sisters, Beulah Bourque, Lorice Carrier, Frances Gotreaux and Lula Mae Cancienne.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Sonnier of Welsh, two sons, Patrick and wife Kimberly Sonnier of Hathaway, LA and Stephen Sonnier of Welsh, two daughters, Mildred and husband Kenneth Johns and Peggy and husband Robert Saucier both of Sulphur, LA. Also surviving are two sisters, Virginia Pepper and Helen Pastor, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pierre served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II and was honorably discharged in 1946. His career in welding was his passion and was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Pierre enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed morning coffee and afternoon visits with friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am, Friday, July 11, 2014 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh, Father Trouille will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, from 2 to 9 pm at Hixson Funeral home with a rosary at 6:30 pm. Visitation will resume Friday morning from 8:00 am until leaving for church. Burial will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Welsh.
