She was born the oldest child of John and Mildred Murphy on January 6, 1938 in Iowa, Louisiana. She was a 1956 graduate of Iowa High School. After high school, she married her life-long love, Robert Robicheaux of Welsh. They were married 41 years. She was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church. She was known affectionately to many as, “Granny”, she was never without a smile, encouraging words or time to listen. Her unwavering faith in Christ set the stage for a home welcome and open to all who entered. She was the true matriarch of her large, loving family.
Mrs. Robicheaux was preceded in death by her husband Robert; parents, John and Mildred Murphy; granddaughter, Rachael Vanicor; and a brother, James Murphy.
Those left to cherish her memories and to carry on the love and legacy are her daughters; Selena Bryant (Gerald), Cissy Sims, Missy Vanicor (Brian), and Allison Mier (Lawrence), grandchildren, Robert Vanicor, Ryan Vanicor, Joshua Bryant, Jacob Bryant, Jordan Bryant, Jude Bryant, Heather Inman, Matthew Dossman, Jonathan Sims, Kallie Mier, and Hannah Mier, sisters, Jeanette Holcek and Suzanne Kovac. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh.
