Jeannine "Mumzie" Marie Richard went home to rest in the arms of her Heavenly Father on February 6, 2023, her 84th birthday. She was born in Welsh, Louisiana to parents Rolland Romero and Frances Guerra Romero.
She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. After becoming a single mother, she not only raised her family but also put herself through school to become a nurse. She truly had the heart of a caregiver, and her compassion touched the lives of all those she cared for. Her love for her family and her faith in God gave her the strength and courage to face all of the challenges that she was faced with.
She is survived by her two sisters, Gaynell Romero Vera and Mary Romero VanWinkle (David) and two brothers, Don Romero and Scotty Romero (Candi). She also leaves behind seven children to honor her memory, Randy Richard (Linda Mills), Julie Benoit, Sonya VanNess (Dwayne), Mark Richard (Rhoda) Russell Richard, Robert Richard, and Tommy Richard (Melanie); 18 grandchildren, Kandis Fontenot, Jason Benoit (Leslie), Josh Benoit (Amanda), Ryan VanNess (Kristina), Chelsie VanNess Davidson (Will), Madlyn VanNess, Ashley Richard, Devin Fontenot, Jenna DiBartolo, Derrick Richard (Beth), Jillian Richard, Ian Richard, Caroline Richard, Thomas Richard (Hillary), Malorie Richard Brabham (Jared), Luke Richard, John Henry Richard, and Mary Camille Richard; 23 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Jeannine is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Rolland Romero and Tony Romero.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 for visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. and a rosary at 12:00 p.m. The procession will leave for the church at 12:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ian Richard, John Henry Richard, Austin VanNess, Luke Richard, Hayden VanNess and Darren Benoit.
