Anna Arceneaux Whiddon, age 81, of Welsh, Louisiana passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, November 28, 2024 with her loving family by her side. Anna was born on December 16, 1942 in Welsh, Louisiana to Joseph Alvin Arceneaux and Anna Elizabeth "Ella" Fassbender Arceneaux.
Anna was a devout woman of faith, loving wife, mother, and Nana. She enjoyed cooking. “The more pots on the stove the better” was her motto. She spent summers canning and winters doing crafts like sewing and painting. She loved deep dives in Bible study and times of prayer journaling her spiritual journey. She was always ready to share a helping hand, lend an ear, or offer advice if you asked.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Perrin and Noel Lee Arceneaux, and two sisters, Louella Cox and Alvina DeYiede.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Merlin Lee Whiddon; daughter, Kathryn Jankiewicz and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Logan Thomas Jankiewicz, and Katrina Jankiewicz Moss (Michael); great-grandchildren, Caroline Margot Moss and Clark Leviticus Moss; brother, James "Jimmy" Arceneaux (Dean); sister, Lydia Ardoin; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Hixson Funeral Home, Welsh. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Patterson officiating.
