Russell "Big Russ" Louis Murphy Sr.

Russell Louis Murphy Sr. (Big Russ) passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Saturday April 27, 2024, at age 76. He is now resting with his (predeceased) loving wife of 45 years, Barbara (Snow) Murphy ❤️

He was also predeceased by brothers Ronald Crowell, and Kenneth Murphy, and sister, Pamela Berrio.

He was born to the late Alvah (Jerry) & Olive (Marchant) Murphy on April 1, 1948. Russell left school to follow his heart (and his father's’ footsteps) to the sea. He was a lifelong fisherman, working on many boats including his own, “The C-CAP”. He learned a lot and made many treasured friends along the way.

During their younger years, Russell and Barbara enjoyed spending time at The Eastham/Orleans Elks, where he was a lifetime member.

Russell had a great sense of humor and he loved his family dearly.

He is survived by his 3 children Laura Young of South Wellfleet, Russell Murphy Jr. of Wellfleet, and Felicia Daley of Eastham. His sister, Judy Johnson of Hyannis, 2 nieces, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and his caregiver, Bob Kellogg. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

A graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery in Wellfleet, on May 10 at 11 am.
