Dr. Ronald G. Zeffiro

Born on September 14, 1935 in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Francesco and Dirce (Rossi) Zeffiro, he grew up in Litchfield, CT. He was the brother of the late Aldo Zeffiro and his wife Betty of Avon, CT and the late Frank Zeffiro and his wife Dorothy of Kauai, HI.

Ron is survived by his children, Ronald Gregory of Wellfleet, MA, Judith Zeffiro Hall and her husband William of Portsmouth, RI and Sharon Zeffiro-Nourse of Wellfleet, MA. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Caroline and William Hall, Donald and Renee Zeffiro and their mother Dawn Rudder Zeffiro of Canton, CT. Additionally, he is survived by the Papanek step-children; Andrea and her husband Kevin, John and his wife Jill, Drew, Tom, and Peg.

Ron was a 1953 graduate of Litchfield High School. He was 1958 graduate of Tufts University and 1962 graduate of Georgetown Medical School. Ron completed his residency in Anesthesiology and Internal Medicine at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. Ron practiced Anesthesia for over 30 years at St. Francis Hospital, Sharon Hospital and Winsted Hospital. Additionally, he was the camp physician for the West Hill Aquatic Camps, New Hartford, CT.

Ron resided in West Hartford, CT for over 30 years. He eventually retired to Wellfleet, MA with his wife Susan, their standard poodle Delilah, along with their four Maine coon cats.

Ron was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed cooking, travel, music, history and the beach. He was a devout communicant at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Wellfleet, MA.

Ron was loved by his friends and family and will be greatly missed. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Wellfleet, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Pennfield School, Attention Tara Gnolfo, 110 Sandy Point Ave, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
